  2. Cast Iron and Stainless Steel Grates Cleaning Process
  3. Heavy duty or Deep Cleaning Process

You can use the deep cleaning method for any type of grates. Now we will know how they work:

Porcelain Grates Cleaning Process:

  1. Go through the owner’s manual: You should read the owner’s manual first since the porcelain coating is very prone to scraping or scrubbing; you do not want to risk that.  So read the manufacturer’s instructions thoroughly before you get into it to safeguard your warranty.
  • Apply a scrubber brush of nylon: Now you have to apply a scrubber brush made of nylon before the grill gets cool. Do not ever use any brass brush, since it may result in scrapping the coating of your grill. Try to use a slightly curved one to get in between the sides of the grating. Now go for a diagonal move and start to scrape slowly. Use the up and down motion, only in one direction, from the place need your hand.

If you are dealing with heavy-duty build-up, get the brush damp before you scrub.

  • Flip the grill: When the grill gets cool, flip it carefully to clean up the underside of it. Again, use the diagonal move to clean up the gunk and food build-up. Just scrape them away using the brush. This process may take a bit more time since there are drippings caused by the cooking process but do it carefully until you find it fully clean.

You grill may have a couple of sections, so do the same to each of the sections.

Cast Iron and Stainless Steel Grates Cleaning Process:

  1. Arrange a grill brush of stainless steel:  At first, you should arrange a grill brush made of stainless steel. You can choose between a straight or roller brush. The bristles of the brush will be soft to safeguard the coating of the grill grate; both the brush can do a fine job. However, if you can prefer the roll ones for cleaning all the sides of the grill grate.
  • Make sure the grill is hot: If the grill is hot, the grease, fool, or oil buildup will soften easily offering an easy peasy clean up. Now get the grill at its highest temperature setting.  Then let the grill heat for at least 12-15 minutes. You can stop when your grill has a temperature of 550-600 degrees Fahrenheit; then you can stop to heat the grill.
  • Do scrub: Then scrub the grates in a back and forward motion until you see the whole bar is totally clean. Then you should apply the same process on the rest of the grill carefully.
  • Use vegetable oil: Now take a paper towel or cloth and put some vegetable oil on it to make it damp. Then, along with a couple of tongs, use this cloth/towel to wipe the entire bars slowly.
